The community we live in now have beautiful tree lined streets. Many of them are American Sweetgum trees. In the Fall, it is amazing the different colors of leaves in the same trees. The leaves are 5 pointed star shaped and in the same tree many different sizes, from small to large. They also have a hard multi-spiked fruit that looks like a spiked ball. These are from late fall so the leaves were getting scarce in the trees. Work sometimes gets in my way for posting here.

Snowy Egrets wade in shallow water to spear fish and other small aquatic animals. While they may employ a sit-and-wait technique to capture their food, sometimes they are much more animated, running back and forth through the water with their wings spread, chasing their prey. This one was quite animated, moving quickly. This shot was when it paused between the action. Also some of the other birds moved out of the way.

This is from an earlier outing but never got around to working on the files. I was going through an external drive and found these files I forgot about. I chose one to post here.

When we go to the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in Cambridge Maryland, we try to arrive right before sunrise. It takes us about 4 hours, so with traffic, many times we arrive a little late. On this trip we got there right on time. Driving down the entrance road and stopping to sign in, we spotted these 2 Eagles in a tree right along the entrance road. I liked the warm light as the sun was rising behind the tree with the Eagles, giving me an abstract silhouette of the Eagles. I got a few shots, but we wanted to get a little further down the road for some Landscapes with the rising sun.

Going through my files and found these images of Mute Swans taken at the Edwin B. Forsythe NWR, Brigantine Division in Oceanville, NJ. This is one of my favorite locations to photograph birds. From shore birds, to wadding birds, to raptors it has a diverse amount of photo subjects for you to look for. Plus there are great subjects in every season.

This was photographed at the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge, Brigantine Division in Oceanville NJ. There is an 8 mile Wildlife Drive that gives you access to a large amount of the refuge for photography. At one of the bends before you go through a wooded area, there are a few trees grouped together out in a marshy area. Many times you can find a wide variety of birds in the trees, on different branches. You have to look closely because some are hidden, but if you watch they usually come out in the open at different times. This Black-crowned Night-heron had a nest on the back side, but came out in the open for a while giving me the opportunity for quite a few shots. It was busy preening and the feather floated down in the front.

A series of images of a preening Great Egret. I liked the feather detail and lighting on this Great Egret. He posed for quite a while giving me ample time to photograph the Egret in a variety of poses. This is the same group of trees that the Black-crowned Night-heron from the previous post was in.

I switched over to a new iMac and was setting my Hard Drives. Going through some old external Hard Drives I found this Bald Eagle photo from 2011 taken at the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in Cambridge Maryland. They have one of the largest amounts of Bald Eagles (in the Winter months) in the Northeast. But it such a large area with many areas you cannot get access to photograph. It was shot with a Sigma 300-800mm lens @ 800mm, with a 1.4X Teleconverter on an old Canon 20D and cropped in some. When you add the teleconverter and the 1.6X crop of the old 20D it comes out to 1792mm for the uncropped version. Surprised it looks this good. But it brings back memories.

Still trying to get use to the CC versions of Photoshop, mostly better than the CS6, but still have a few annoying issues with the CC.
