US Airforce Thunderbirds DisplAy Team

Back in the early Days of Digital Cameras I used to go to a lot of Airshows. Before using Digital Cameras at Airshows I would use regular cameras and would shoot about 20 to 40 R0lls of 35mm Kodak EKTACHROME slide film. But when the early Digital Cameras came on the scene it was a game changer for getting more interesting images instead of reloading film cameras. Using the digital cameras I got more interesting flight images because I did not miss some of the flight opportunities when reloading my film cameras. My Early Digital Aviation images were taken with a Nikon D1X and a Fuji S1 FinePix Pro. The Fuji S1 Camera also used Nikon mount Lenses which came in handy so I did not need 2 different mount lenses for the 2 different camera brands.

High Speed Opposing Pass (you need to pick the plane you want to be more in focus because of their speed)

    • Thanks so much Sam! Make sure you have enough water or something to drink because it can be very HOT looking up at the planes flying above! Also for planes with propellers use a slower shutter speed other wise it looks like it should fall out of the sky! Have a Great Time! Send some photos!!

    • Thanks Sam! photographing at air shows are fun! But also bring water or something to drink to keep hydrated! It gets really hot looking up to the sky for that many hours!

  1. Great captures Reed. I remember the early days at the drag racing trying to load a new reel of film, what a pain! Thank goodness for digi!
