I am going through my backup drives to clear out unneeded files and to make room for backing up recent files. I came across a drive with a lot of images from a trip to J.N. Ding Darling NWR in Florida many years ago that I never used. This is a series of 2 images of a Great Egret. The Featured image is a very close fly-by of the Great Egret taken with a Canon 400mm DO lens with a 1.4X Teleconverter on a Canon 1D mkIV.

A series of Bald Eagle in-flight images taken over a few visits to the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in Maryland. I find Blackwater NWR has one of the largest amount of Bald Eagles in the Northeast and is a fairly easy drive to get there from my home. The Featured Image was a quickly taken 2 shot panorama to get both wingtips in the image.

I usually do not photograph some of the smaller birds I see at Wildlife Refuges. Usually they are far off in the distance or are very skittish and fly off. On this trip to the Brigantine Division of the Edwin B. Forsythe NWR these Common Terns were more cooperative. All images here were taken with a Canon 400mm DO lens with a 2X Teleconverter on a Canon 1DmkIV. The last image in the series was actually a panorama shot as it was flying right at me and I wanted to get the right wingtip in also. So I quickly shot a series of images hoping to get the right wingtip in also for my final pano image.

A series of images of a Black Skimmer feeding as it was skimming through the water in one of the channels along the Wildlife Drive at the Brigantine Division of the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge, Brigantine Division. It seems like it also had a damaged feather on one wing. All images were taken with a Canon 1D mkIV with a 400mm DO lens & 1.4X Teleconverter.

A series of images of two Bald Eagles taken at a previous trip to the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge near Cambridge Maryland. The Featured Image was taken near the entrance to the Wildlife Drive. For the Featured Image I was using a Better Beamer Flash Extender to light the Eagle as it was very early in the morning and I did not have much light on my subject far away Eagle. I usually do not use Flash when photographing Wildlife but it was so far off I needed to throw some light on my distant subject that was in the shadows. Image taken with a Canon 1D mkIV, 400mm DO lens & a Better Beamer Flash Extender. Looking at my Raw Data, this Eagle was 115 feet away from me. I hardly ever use the Better Beamer Flash Extender for Wildlife but it just happened to be in the car from a Commercial Photo session.

The second Bald Eagle was only 65 ft. away from me and was more in the open so I did not need to use a flash to light the Eagle.

I was photographing this Bald Eagle as it was flying in to roost on this dead tree. It was making a loud squawking as it was flying in. Instead of using 3 images to show the Eagle flying in I put the 3 images into one image to show the Eagles flight path to the dead tree top. Images taken with a 400mm DO lens with a 1.4x Teleconverter on a Canon 1D mkIV.

On a visit to Blackwater NWR I saw a Bald Eagle off in the distance. It was flying towards me so as it was getting closer I was tracking & taking images of it just in case it changed course. After I got a few images it veered off & flew away. But at least a got a few images of the Bald Eagle to post here.

As I was photographing birds out in the water at the Brigantine Division of the Edwin B. Forsythe Wildlife Refuge this Willet flew close by me. I managed to get a few images as it went by.

On a previous visit to the Blackwater NWR we saw this Bald Eagle in a tree at the entrance to the Refuge. I thought this was going to be a Great Day for photographing Bald Eagles. After I went through the Entrance Gate I pulled over to get out of the car to photograph the Eagle. The Featured Image was taken when I got a little closer and is cropped for an Eagle Portrait. I got quite a few images before I continued on the Wildlife Drive.

When photographing at the Brigantine Division of the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in NJ, you often see large groups of Cormorants swim by in the channels along the Wildlife Drive. This group had about 92+ Cormorants in the Group. It is hard to get an actual count because some are under water as you are counting the group. I counted 92 Cormorants in the image, but some more were not visible as I was counting.
