Here are a series of Swan images that I photographed years ago. Many are from a very small Natural Area near where I used to live. Since it had a small lake there were many times you could get nice frame filling images of them. I know many do not like Mute Swans, but I thought they were interesting photo subjects and were fun to photograph.
Cormorant Stretching It’s Wings

An early morning image taken years ago at a local Nature Area. It has a small lake so many times you could get interesting images of fairly close by birds. The rising sun gave a nice glow to the water. It also highlighted the black cormorant.
Ospreys In Flight

One of my favorite photo subjects are Ospreys in flight. Over the years I have enjoyed photographing them in many different locations. Quite often you can see in the photos their eyes keeping an eye on you. The featured image was taken at the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in Maryland. Featured image was taken with a 400mm DO lens with a 1.4X Teleconverter. Other photo locations for the images here were the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge, Briganine Division and The Celery Farm Natural Area in Allendale, NJ.
Celery Farm Natural Area Panoramas – InfraRed BW & Full Color

We went to one of my favorite small Natural Areas that was close to where we used to live. The clouds were impressive so I shot a series of panoramas @ 17mm with a Canon 17-40mm lens and 12mm with a 12-24mm lens on a Canon R. I was mostly shooting with the Hoya R72 InfraRed Filter, but did a few without the R72 filter also.
The images below show the series of panorama images going from the raw image as shot with the Hoya R72 InfraRed filter, then the image balanced to the white card I also shot for color balance. Then going to the grayscale B&W Image.

Sleeping Mute Swan

I found this Mute Swan at a local nature area a while ago. While I was photographing this Swan you can see it opened its eye and was keeping an eye on me. Also photographed a few detail shots. After a few shots I moved on.
Osprey Fly By

I usually do not get an Osprey flyby, low over the water in a side view. I liked how it’s wing tips reflect in the water. It had just come out of the water before this, then flew right across where I was setup with an 800mm lens. Usually they seem to fly away from my position. Once in a while you get lucky.
Early Morning Mist

There was not much going on when I was at a local Nature Area a while ago where I used to live. But the early morning mist looked interesting before the sun started coming up. So I shot a few frames since the birds were not cooperating and then went back to work.
Mute Swans With Cygnets

This pair of Swans were swimming by with their fairly new born Cygnets. Cygnets do not spend much time in the nest after they hatch. Usually not more than a day. The Male Swan (called the Cob) helps the Female (known as the Pen) until they are about a year old. They seem to continually swim around this small lake.
Pair Of Wood Ducks

I saw this pair of Wood Ducks at a local park. Usually Wood Ducks are swimming around the lake or on the shore. So it was different to see them balancing on these branches that were in the water. They are definitely colorful ducks!
Mute Swan Swim By

Mute Swans are some of my favorite birds to photograph. They seem sort of expressive in their postures and movement. Plus they are a big subject so easier to see and fill the frame to get a nice image. Plus they do not seem to shy away from you and tend to come right up to where you are shooting. But you can see they keep an eye on you. You just have to make sure you do not blow out the highlights and lose detail in the feathers. Also their wings make a really cool sound when they fly by you!
