I liked this morning sunrise image because it accented the warm sun rising low on the right side with its warm glow going above the trees and reflecting in the lake water. And still has a cool bluish tone on the left side of the image as the sun was rising. The bluish tone only lasted for a few minutes allowing me to get a few images to work with. I really liked the night to day feel of the image with the colors and tones. I got there before sunrise to be ready for the rising sun and be setup for the shot. As I was waiting I enjoyed the tones I was starting to see develop. Image shot at 22mm with a Canon 17-40mm zoom lens.

This is a set of images of an Osprey fishing series. I was photographing this Osprey flying overhead when it saw something and went into a dive to catch a meal. I lost the Osprey in my viewfinder on the way down but got it again as it hit the water. I kept shooting while it caught it’s prey, surfaced and flew off. The final image is when it circled around and flew by me with it’s fish in its claws.

I liked the early morning light and the reflections of the trees and sky in the water. I was traveling light and only had a long lens for birds, so I shot a series of images and combined them in Photoshop. In some ways it is confusing and busy looking, but I still liked it anyway and thought it was interesting. Only needed a few touch ups to fine tune the image. It was a quiet day for the birds, but I enjoyed being out in the fresh air and seeing what else I could find.

I was going through some of my older images & I found this image of a Black-Crowned Night-Heron after it caught it’s breakfast. This was shot early in the morning as the sun was coming up. I was watching the Heron on the sticks and I was surprised that all of a sudden he lunged forward and came up with the fish for a meal. I was just watching the Heron so I was not ready for photographing the Heron catching it’s meal. But I got him as he straightened up.

This Great Egret flew across the lake heading for the pile of sticks in the water. As it was landing it’s wings flared out and reminded me of private aviation flying, flaps down. I liked the wing position and angle of the landing Egret.

A flyby of this Immature Mute Swan. I was watching this Immature Mute Swan swimming across this small lake. It took off and flew towards me so I was able to get some closer flight photos. Usually they fly away from where I am setup, so the Swan cooperated with me.

I liked the reflections of these female Mallard ducks lined up on this fallen tree in the water. The tree had been there for a while, with green moss growing on it accenting the green Duckweed in the water. It is sort of a birdscape or duckscape! I thought it was interesting that there were no male Mallards around this group or even in the area.

Still going through files I had not gotten to working on. Somehow work keeps getting in the way. This is from a local nature area. It was a foggy morning so I thought I might get some ducks in the fog before the sun burned off the fog. Then a Mute Swan glided in heading towards me. I liked this one because of the reflection of the landing Swan. The light was poor and again I added contrast and other editing techniques to make it less “muddy” looking but still give the look of the foggy morning.

This is from an earlier outing but never got around to working on the files. I was going through an external drive and found these files I forgot about. I chose one to post here.
