I was at a local Nature Preserve looking for Dragonflies, when a Muskrat swam by where I was setup. I had a 400mm lens on so I could not get the whole muskrat in one shot. I quickly shot 3 shots to make a panorama to get the tail in. I was also working to get the water wake to be symmetrical so the water wake lined up as closely as possible.

There was also some Palm Warblers when we were there. We noticed them right before we left. This one flew on the ground in front of us and was scurrying around. I was able to get a few shots before it flew off into the tree branches.

This pair of Wood ducks were checking out this Wood Duck Box at the local Nature Preserve. We noticed the female was really trying to go in, but having great difficulty getting in the box. She tried multiple times before swimming off. We noticed after watching that she was missing one foot which probably made it difficult to get in the box. She tried flying in and almost made it then fell away from the opening. We were thinking a Snapping Turtle probably got her foot as they were swimming around. The pair swam off and we are not sure if she tried again at a later time.

I was at the local Nature Preserve when an Osprey flew in. Seems a little early here for an Osprey, but was happy to see one. It was a very overcast day, but still got a few splashes as the Osprey dove into the Lake, along with some exits out of the Lake. Interesting to see the sequence of flying out of the lake. Also the usual shaking off the water once airborne. The Osprey never got a fish, but tried multiple times. Here are some images from a few of the attempts.

Mute Swans are a large heavy bird, so it takes a while for them to take-off. I was going through files from the archives and thought this was interesting. I usually see them from a side view taking off. So when this one took off heading towards me, it was a great different view. The splashing, feet flapping and the distance it took to get into the air was amazing. Then it made a pass in front of me with the wings making that cool whooshing sound. I liked the early morning light backlighting the wings!

Still going through files from the archives, getting images I overlooked. Here are some more Little Green Herons from the Celery Farm Natural Area. There used to be quite a few Little Green Herons there, but this year they were definitely down in numbers. They were still present, but the numerous presence of Greenies that used to be there was definitely missing. And they were definitely more distant than previous years.

I was going through my archives and found these photos of a Mute Swan splashing in the water. It was splashing for quite a while. Here are a few images from that sequence.
