A sunset image taken a few years ago at the Edwin B. Forsythe NWR, Brigantine Division in New Jersey. We had taken a trip to the Brigantine Division to photograph birds & wildlife, but decided to stay longer to see if it would be an interesting sunset for landscapes. The higher clouds were darkening as the sun went down but we were rewarded with a colorful sunset to photograph lower to the horizon! Image taken with a 24-105mm lens @ 24mm & Canon 1DmkIII.
Osprey Landing At Nest

These are from a previous visit to the Edwin B. Forsythe NWR, Brigantine Division in Oceanville NJ. There are many Osprey Platforms with nests scattered along the Wildlife Drive. So if you are patient and wait for the Ospreys to return you can get some interesting flight & landing images. If there are young Ospreys in the nests there is usually more activity with the adult birds bringing food and feeding the young. These are images are of a landing sequence. Images were taken with a Canon 1D mkIV with a Canon 400mm DO lens with a 1.4x Canon Teleconverter. Looking at the Camera Raw Data the nest was 154 feet from the Wildlife Drive .
Ospreys On Osprey Platform

A photo of an Osprey bringing nesting materials to the nest on an Osprey Platform along the Wildlife Drive at the Brigantine Division of the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in Oceanville NJ. This was from a few years ago in May. But can not wait to photograph the Ospreys in the upcoming months along the Wildlife Drive. There are quite a few Osprey Platforms along the Wildlife Drive giving many opportunities to photograph them. You need a fairly long lens unless you want to severely crop your images. These images was taken with a Canon 400mm DO lens with a 2X Teleconverter.
Great Blue Heron By Waters Edge

I was surprised on our visit to the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge, Brigantine Division in Oceanville, NJ that there were quite a few Great Egrets & Great Blue Herons still around in January. The Featured Image was a 2 image portrait. It walked by me and was so close I wanted to show a little more of the neck. So I quickly shot 2 images @600mm for a pano portrait of the Heron. The images below are a series of images @ varying focal lengths as it was foraging in front of me.
Canada Geese Panoramas Along Brigantine Wildlife Drive

Some additional images from our trip to the Brigantine Division of the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in Oceanville NJ. The main attraction here is the Wildlife Drive that circles around the main visitor areas. It is about 8 miles long, one way, circling the main active viewing areas. In the early Spring there are multiple Osprey platforms along the Drive for watching Ospreys building nests and see them feeding their young. They also have multiple trails for exploring and a Visitor Center.
BRIGANTINE IPHONE MULTI-IMAGE PANORAMAS

On our recent trip to the Brigantine Division of the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in Oceanville, NJ, I was traveling light. Mainly using a Tamron 150-600mm lens on a 1D mkIV, a 12-24mm zoom on a Canon R and my iPhone 11 Pro for multi-image landscapes & multi-image panoramas. The Canon R with the 12-24mm never made it out of the camera bag. I was having more fun shooting multi-image Panoramas on my iPhone 11 Pro. The featured image is 13 images shot in multiple images per row & then multiple rows with the iPhone 11 Pro & the 1.5mm lens.
Great Egret Flying Into Tree

On our visit to the Brigantine Division of the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge we saw quite a few Great Egrets around the Refuge. This one was foraging in the grasses along the Wildlife Drive and flew into a group of trees along a turn on the Wildlife Drive. It was usually a great spot for photographing Night Herons.It stayed in the tree for quite a while just moving around on the branches. All images were taken with a Canon 1DmkIV with a 150-600mm Tamron lens @ 600mm.
Ospreys In The Fog At Brigantine

These images were taken from a previous photo trip to the Brigantine Division of the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in Oceanville, NJ. We stayed overnight to get an early start the next morning, but we woke up to a very foggy morning. We carefully drove from the motel to the Refuge anyway thinking maybe it would burn off at sunrise. But the fog stayed for a while and I kind of liked the eerie foggy look of the Refuge in the fog. Adding contrast and opening up the shadows helped with the very flat light with the flying Ospreys against the foggy white background sky. It sort of turned them into a high key white background. It was sort of interesting to be the only ones there in such a large foggy area. All images shot with a Canon 400mm Canon DO lens, some with a 1.4x teleconverter with a Canon 7D to get closer for flight images.
Cattle Egret @ 800mm

Another series of images @ 800mm. This time a Cattle Egret that was balancing on a sign along the Wildlife Drive at the Brigantine Division of the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in Oceanville, New Jersey. It was interesting to see it hanging on to the sign with it’s large feet. I did not want the sign to show so I was composing more for portraits against the nice blue sky. Because it was on top of the sign, I was sort of looking up at it. Most were taken with a 400mm lens with a 2x teleconverter. I shot a few different angles and views before moving on leaving the Egret sunning there. Before finding this Cattle Egret on the drive we also passed a small group foraging on the ground.

These images are from a previous trip years ago to the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge, Oceanville Division, in New Jersey. Along the Wildlife Drive there are quite a few Osprey platforms providing good opportunities to photograph Ospreys on nests. Quite often you can also see them with the Osprey nestlings. If you wait long enough you can see them bringing fish to the nests and feeding the chicks.
