Meeting House 4 Image Verical Panorama

This is a 4 Image vertical panorama of the Meeting House in the condo community we live in now. It is a multi-use building for the whole community and it reminds me of areas I used to like to photograph in New England when our children were small. They liked Old Sturbridge Village in Massachusetts among others. I tried a variety of ways to photograph this building to see which way I liked it best plus it gave me an opportunity to practice or try different effects and combinations.

For this image I shot 4 images, handheld, vertically at 24mm. I used a lot of overlap on each image because I was shooting at 24mm (vertically). It helps having a lot of overlap in the images when using a 24mm, it seems like Photoshop handles it better and you get less “distortion” in the combining of the separate images.

On this version the clouds were amazing, so I continued up to include a lot of clouds & sky.

It seems like the more you do of these panoramas the more you learn and have a higher success rate. Also if you are just walking around and traveling “light” with just one lens, it gives you more options for photo subjects.

Smoking Tree?

During our walk at the Plainsboro Preserve, we noticed this tree with a cloud formation right above it. It looked like a column of smoke coming from the top of the tree. For some reason it just amused me. The feature image was 1 shot, while the one below is a two image panorama.

Early Morning Clouds At Blackwater NWR

This is from a previous visit to the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in Cambridge Maryland. We like photographing there for Bald Eagles and landscapes. Being close to the coast, you can get some amazing vibrant colors at sunrise and sunset. This is a little after sunrise and the clouds were fantastic. Shot multiple areas along the Wildlife Drive and this is one in a series. (Once I have a chance to get to the others!)

Blackwater Landscapes Along The Wildlife Drive

Usually we go to Blackwater NWR (Maryland) for photographing Eagles, Ospreys and other Birds & Wildlife. Or if we stay til dark, they have very colorful sunsets, being close to the coast. But lately I have been photographing more of the landscapes along the Wildlife Drive. Also gives some practice trying HDR techniques or Panoramas. The eagle population is still growing as many Eagles are returning to the Refuge for the Winter.  Next I have to try views along the trails. Usually when I am on the trails I have long lenses with me to capture birds in the trees. At this time of year the Ospreys have left and the Eagles are gaining numbers as many come down from Canada.

The featured image was a 5 shot panorama, over lapping images, shot at 24mm. The next image is a 6 image HDR bracketed panorama image assembled in Photoshop. 3 bracketed exposures for each of the 2 sections, combined in Photoshop. Still trying to get use to CC 2017 Photoshop, from my usual CS6 workflow.

Grasses

Some different Fall Landscapes instead of the usual Fall leaves. I liked the dried grasses against the Fall Colors.

More Views of Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge

I am still going through my images from our day at the Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge. Lots of files to adjust and work on, so I am a little behind. Here are a few more.

Landscapes From Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge

We went to the Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge in Delaware to see what we could find. Wildlife was usually far in the distance, but the landscapes were great. We still had some Fall color, but the clouds really added to the images. It was a fun day with lots of opportunities for great images.

Longwood Gardens Meadow Garden

Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA, has been known for wonderful formal gardens and water displays. This Spring they added a Meadow Garden consisting of 86 acres with 3.5 miles of walking & hiking trails through fields, wetlands and diverse habitats for flora and fauna. We finally got a chance to go and photograph this wonderful area. It is so large an area we only covered a small portion of the Meadows. It is wonderful for landscapes, macro, wildflowers and plants, insects and occasional wildlife. I was watching very large dragonflies whizz by, but did not get a chance to see any closeup, they were just cruising by. If we had stayed later we could probably have found them. There are many educational and information postings throughout the area, plus signs on bridges explaining what you are seeing. If you go through be sure to carry some water as it is quite a trek.

Opening Photo is a 3 frame panorama, Panasonic GH2, m43 body, 14-140mm Lens @ 14mm. Assembled in Photoshop CS6.

A series of sunsets at J. N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge in December 2013. Here in New Jersey we have had a LOT of snow, so it nice to reflect back on the warm weather of our trip to Florida.
