We went to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA. There is 1,077 acres of Outdoor Gardens, a 4 acre Conservatory and 86 acres of a meadow garden, so there is plenty to see and photograph. We went mainly for the Meadow Garden and the Outdoor Gardens. The Outdoor Gardens were spectacular and the Meadow Garden is not blooming yet, but still fun to wander around and see what we could find. On the way to the Meadow Garden we went past this Wisteria climbing on one of the buildings. I shot a 4 shot handheld pano and combined it in Photoshop.

I finally got a chance to go through some of my images from Longwood Gardens in Kennet Square, PA taken back in September. These are from the Water Lily Gardens in the Conservatory. They put a black color in the water so the flowers really stand out against the dark water.

Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA, has been known for wonderful formal gardens and water displays. This Spring they added a Meadow Garden consisting of 86 acres with 3.5 miles of walking & hiking trails through fields, wetlands and diverse habitats for flora and fauna. We finally got a chance to go and photograph this wonderful area. It is so large an area we only covered a small portion of the Meadows. It is wonderful for landscapes, macro, wildflowers and plants, insects and occasional wildlife. I was watching very large dragonflies whizz by, but did not get a chance to see any closeup, they were just cruising by. If we had stayed later we could probably have found them. There are many educational and information postings throughout the area, plus signs on bridges explaining what you are seeing. If you go through be sure to carry some water as it is quite a trek.
Opening Photo is a 3 frame panorama, Panasonic GH2, m43 body, 14-140mm Lens @ 14mm. Assembled in Photoshop CS6.

We went to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA to go through their new Meadow Gardens which opened earlier this Spring. It is 86 acres with about 3.5 miles of trails weaving through this area. Before you get to this area, there are many acres of formal gardens, a Conservatory and other buildings. On the way to the Meadows we photographed our way to them. Here is a bee getting nectar early in the morning along one of the Garden Paths. I used a Canon EOS 1D MkIV with a Sigma 150mm f/2.8 Macro with a Canon 1.4X Series II Teleconverter for a combined focal length of 273mm macro, taking into the 1.3 crop of the camera. I shot at f/4.5 to to keep a shallow depth of field to highlight the bee and to keep him as the main subject.
