A series of images showing an Osprey nest on an Osprey Platform along the Wildlife Drive at the J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge in Florida. All images were taken handheld @ 600mm with a Tamron 150-600mm lens on a Canon R. Some images are cropped to show more detail of my distant subjects. The Canon R Raw files have very little noise with a lot of clean detail when shooting “Raw” files which gives me a lot of opportunities for severe image cropping for getting even closer to far off Bird images .

Some of my favorite photo subjects are raptors (Eagles, Hawks, Ospreys, Falcons, etc.). This is an Osprey bringing nesting materials to build the nest, from a trip years ago to the Brigantine Division of the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in Oceanville NJ. Image shot with a Canon 400mm DO lens.

Osprey often keep bringing sticks to their nests even after they are built and there are young chicks in the nest. I do not know if it is for repairs or just what they do. It is fun to see them swoop them up from the water by the shore.
