While waiting for dragonflies to show up, I saw these Water Skates. They found a large meal in the water. They converged quickly on the struggling bug and were working quite a while on their find. You usually see them skirting around the pond. The Gerridae are a family of insects in the order Hemiptera, commonly known as water striders, water bugs, pond skaters, water skippers, or jesus bugs.
